"Hypnotherapists?"

Anyone done any Hypnotherapy? I've done conventional theraphy and meditation. Tried with some success self-hypnosis. I would like to work on some life issues and dreams with a more "goal-directed" approach than conventional talk therapy.
Anyone you can recommend?

Aside from current issues, I'd like to re-experience some very powerful and intense spiritual dreams I had in my mid-20's. I think they can help me get to some truth about life.

I've done it all, including Hypnotherapy...

Regarding your life issues, I think a better approach would be cognitive-behavioral therapy: http://www.cognitive-behavior-therapy.org/

From an agnostic point of view, I don't think that hypnotherapy would get me anywhere, but a couch with headphones...(ok, and a smoke with the therapist behind the building)

However, if you have a strong urge to re-experience your dreams and attach a meaning to them, I say go for it.

HunkyCoyote - Were you ever involved in the whole encounter group movement of the 60's/70's? Any of the primal scream stuff, rebirthing, what have you? I'm researching it for a thesis right now.

No, ma'am, but you can find some articles about John Lennon and Primal Scream if you do an online search. I was born after he was shot...

I worked with an excellent hypnotherapist years ago. I inboxed her data to you, shyboy.

After a number of great sessions with her, I took her suggestion and got trained in one of the styles she uses: Alchemical Hypnotherapy. (The other style she uses is Ericksonian, based on the methods of the famous Milton Erickson.) I was taught that hypnosis isn't mysterious. A trance is just a state of very deep relaxation where your defenses are down and you're open to suggestions and insights. I sometimes go into that state when I get a very good FBSM.

I highly recommend hypnotherapy. If it's done right, you quickly get in touch with your deep unconscious and don't waste time with so much of the superficial mind-fucking psychobabble that goes on in ordinary therapy.
